The Winnipeg Humane Society (WHS) is a historic non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of animals, founded in 1894 as Manitoba's oldest animal shelter. Committed to preventing animal suffering, WHS fosters a compassionate community where every animal is treated with dignity. Their wide array of services includes pet adoption, educational programs for children and youth, pet sitting, and community support initiatives; such as a Pet Food Bank and behavior training classes.

WHS is also an advocate for animal rights, promoting positions on critical issues like breed-neutral legislation and farm animal welfare. Their range of fundraising events—such as the annual Bow Wow Ball and various silent auctions—helps sustain their operations, which primarily rely on donations. The organization thrives through the efforts of dedicated volunteers and partners, reflecting a collective belief that every animal deserves love and safety. With a mission to protect animals from suffering, WHS remains a vital force in Winnipeg's commitment to humane treatment of all living beings.
