WIDECAST

The Wider Caribbean Sea Turtle Conservation Network (WIDECAST) is a volunteer coalition of sea turtle experts based in more than 40 nations and territories. Its mission is to build regional capacity for the recovery and sustainable management of depleted sea turtle populations, while supporting a future in which people and turtles can live in balance. WIDECAST works to connect scientific knowledge with legislation and policy, education and outreach, conservation advocacy, research, and population monitoring.

The network provides a broad collection of information and resources for communities, educators, researchers, policymakers, and conservation practitioners. These include sea turtle biology guides, identification tools, hatchling information, population monitoring resources, a nesting beach atlas, and materials on regional tagging. Its website also addresses threats such as fisheries bycatch, coastal development, beachfront lighting, pollution, and climate change, with practical toolkits and guidance. Additional offerings include publications, national recovery plans, educator resources, ecotourism training materials, and information on Caribbean legislation and international treaties.
