Studienkreis Deutscher Widerstand 1933–1945 e.V. is a Frankfurt-based organisation dedicated to researching, remembering and communicating the history of resistance to National Socialism and the wider history of Nazi persecution. Its work brings together historical research, public education and remembrance, making archival knowledge accessible to researchers and the public.
The organisation maintains the Documentation Archive of German Resistance, with personal papers, restitution files, leaflets, photographs and other historical materials, alongside a specialist reference library. It publishes the journal Informationen twice a year, featuring thematic coverage of research and contemporary perspectives, as well as a free, irregular email newsletter. Its public activities include lectures, events, educational programmes, publications and travelling exhibitions designed to encourage engagement with resistance history.
The Studienkreis also develops projects and remembrance initiatives. It was commissioned to plan and establish the Geschichtsort Adlerwerke, a learning and memorial site at the former concentration-camp subcamp in Frankfurt’s Adlerwerke. Through Gedenkorte Europa, it provides information on around 3,000 sites connected with German wartime crimes, occupation and resistance in several European countries.
