Wiggins Family Heritage is an organization dedicated to promoting diversity in motorsports, with a particular focus on African Americans in IndyCar and the wider racing community. Inspired by the courageous racing career of family member Charlie Wiggins in the 1920s and 1930s, the organization celebrates the heritage and achievements of African Americans who have helped shape the sport.
Through its portfolio and educational storytelling, Wiggins Family Heritage highlights accomplished drivers, emerging young talent, pioneering women, racing mechanics, teams, and owners. Its coverage spans motorsports history, including the Gold and Glory Sweepstakes races and the Colored Speedway Association, whose first race was held on August 2, 1924. The organization also recognizes contemporary efforts to encourage young African American drivers, including scholarship and mentorship initiatives associated with programs such as NXG and Force Indy.
Wiggins Family Heritage aims to inspire future generations and encourage African Americans to participate in every area of motorsports. It welcomes inquiries and potential collaborations through its contact channels.
