Women in Health Network (WiHN) nurtures the next generation of women health leaders in New Zealand. WiHN is a community of health students and professionals who are committed to enabling all women to have a fair and fulfilling experience entering and working within the health sector. Although the health sector is a women-dominated field, gender disparities in the form of pay gaps, uneven opportunities for advancement, and unbalanced representation in leadership and decision-making negatively impact on societal equity and health sector efficiency. At WiHN, we see an overwhelming amount of potential in the wahine rangatahi set to enter the health workforce. We provide opportunities that will support New Zealand women in harnessing this potential and become leaders in their own right. WiHN achieves this in two ways: 1. WiHN Events Programme: a variety of workshops, guest speaker events and networking opportunities throughout the year. All women welcome. 2. WiHN Mentoring Programme: the matching up of 1st year students enrolled in Health Sciences and Biomedical Sciences with women studying their intended relative specialty degree (Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Optometry or Pharmacy). All 1st year Health Sciences and Biomedical Sciences students at the University of Auckland welcome. Women of all ages in all health-related pursuits are welcome to join the network.

About Women in Health Network
Women in Health Network (WiHN) is a non-profit organization based in Auckland that connects and empowers women working in the health sector. Our mission is to foster a supportive network that nurtures the next generation of women health professionals and leaders. We believe in the potential of wāhine rangatahi entering the health workforce and aim to provide them with mentoring and networking opportunities to help them excel in their careers.
At WiHN, we offer two impactful programs. Our Mentoring Program matches first-year health-related degree students with experienced women mentors in their desired health specialty. This program provides guidance and information sharing, creating a supportive environment for young women.
Additionally, our Events Program organizes workshops, guest speaker events, and networking opportunities, focusing on topics rooted in women, leadership, and health. These events equip wahine with invaluable knowledge, skills, and networks needed for personal and professional success. Our organization has attracted over 900 members, including mentees, mentors, and individuals from various disciplines.
With more than 1,000 followers on Facebook, WiHN continues to make a significant impact since its establishment in 2017. We have successfully hosted over 10 events, including innovative workshops and empowering celebrations.
