Wikimedia Australia is the Australian chapter of the renowned Wikimedia Foundation. As a not-for-profit organization and registered charity, we are committed to supporting our members, the wider community, and partner organizations in contributing to Wikipedia, Wikidata, and various other Wikimedia platforms. Our mission aligns with the Wikimedia Foundation's objective of empowering and engaging individuals worldwide to collect and develop educational content under free licenses or in the public domain, ensuring its effective dissemination across the globe.

Being a chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation, we provide our members with an official voice in the global Wikimedia community. Our core objectives include promoting the growth and sharing of free knowledge through open-source software systems, developing educational resources to encourage participation in Wikimedia projects, and raising public awareness and support for these initiatives. To support our activities, we accept donations through various means, and while they are greatly appreciated, they are currently not tax-deductible.

We offer training, events, and partnerships to facilitate contributions to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms. Our experienced facilitators provide guidance to individuals and organizations keen on learning about and editing Wikipedia. Additionally, we organize workshops, edit-a-thons, and other engaging events in collaboration with our extensive network of Wikimedia Australia facilitators.
