Charles “Charlie” Hugo’s website is a personal space devoted to his interests in South African aviation, airshows, scale modelling, photography and wildlife. Originally from Durban and now based in Johannesburg, Charlie shares his enthusiasm for the country’s diverse landscapes and aviation community, alongside personal reflections and detailed event coverage. His writing includes reports on major occasions such as the African Aerospace and Defence Expo, describing flying displays, military demonstrations, aircraft appearances and the experiences of attending with his wife, Fiona.

The site also explores South African Air Force and defence-related aviation, as well as civilian and international aircraft featured at local events. Scale modelling is another longstanding passion, sparked in childhood by Airfix aircraft kits, and the website includes content in this area. Readers can discover Charlie’s perspectives on aviation events and the aircraft and displays that interest him, as well as his appreciation of South Africa’s wildlife and natural beauty.
