Wild Bird Fund is a state and federally licensed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in New York City. They provide medical care and rehabilitation to sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, with the goal of releasing them back into the wild. Each year, they rehabilitate over 9,500 animals from more than 180 species.

Their comprehensive rehabilitation process includes x-rays, diagnostic testing, surgery, medication, bandaging, splinting, physical therapy, and special diets. This important work is made possible through donations and carried out by a dedicated team of about 30 wildlife rehabilitators, supported by numerous volunteers. The Wild Bird Fund also plays a crucial role in educating New Yorkers about the rich diversity of wildlife in the city and how to help protect it.

New York City is a major stopover on the East Coast migratory flyway, with over 355 bird species residing or seeking refuge there during migrations. Many birds are injured due to collisions with buildings or human interference.
