About Wild Mustangs
Welcome to the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary, a haven preserving the spirit of America's wild horses. Since 1988, our nonprofit organization, the Institute of Range and the American Mustang (IRAM), has been dedicated to providing a permanent home for unwanted wild horses. Situated amidst endless prairies and towering rocky canyon walls, our sanctuary offers a breathtaking glimpse into the America of 300 years ago.
At the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary, we focus on preserving the endangered bloodlines of various wild horse bands, including Spanish, Choctaw Indian, Curly, and American Mustangs. Our goal is to maintain the land and provide a life of freedom for these majestic creatures. We do not receive any state or federal funds and rely solely on the generosity of donors like you.
