About Wild Ranger Studios
Wild Ranger Studios is an Oakland, California-based game studio that creates free-to-play conservation games in partnership with organisations working to protect wildlife and habitats. Its browser-based 3D experiences are designed for phones and laptops, with no installation required. In-game habitat purchases support the conservation partner responsible for the real-world location.
The studio’s first title, Mara the Elephant, is set in Kenya’s Maasai Mara and was developed with the Mara Elephant Project. Players take on ranger-inspired missions, including collaring elephants, operating patrol drones, responding to crop raids, and restoring camp supplies and damaged crops. Ranger characters are modelled on real team members with their consent. The game launched on World Elephant Day, 12 August 2026, and is in private preview as its public launch begins.
Wild Ranger Studios is also developing Kingdom Botimalia, a conservation world featuring robot creatures based on real animals and habitats. Planned features include species learning, habitat purchases that support real preserves, and a child-friendly mission creator.
