Southwest Horseman’s Association is a community organization based in Silver City, New Mexico, best known for presenting the Wild Wild West Pro Rodeo. Formed in 1990, the association holds the rodeo at Southwest Horseman’s Park, at 24 Caballero Road, just east of Silver City near US Highway 180. The event celebrates Western heritage and local community life, bringing together cowboys and cowgirls for rough-stock competitions and timed events, including bull riding and roping.
Produced with Casper Baca Rodeo Company, the rodeo offers two nights of arena action, alongside local food and specialty vendors, and welcomes families, fans, and regional supporters. It began as a professional rodeo and, following a change in 2021, became a two-day amateur event. The association also promotes related equestrian and youth activities through connections with the Southwest Horseman’s Horse Show Association and SHYRA Youth Rodeo Association.
Its work is supported by sponsors and community participation, helping sustain a longstanding Western tradition in southwest New Mexico
