About Wilfandel Club
Wilfandel Club of Los Angeles is a nonprofit African American women’s organization dedicated to community service and the preservation of the historic Wilfandel Clubhouse in the West Adams neighborhood. Founded in 1945 by Fannie Williams and Della Williams, the Club created a welcoming place for people of color to gather at a time when segregation restricted access to many venues. Its clubhouse, a 1912 Renaissance Revival mansion acquired in 1948, remains a center for cultural, civic, educational, and social activities.
Wilfandel advances its founders’ vision through scholarships, educational programming, leadership initiatives, philanthropy, and community partnerships. Its Fannie Williams and Nancy Griffith scholarships provide financial assistance to graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education. The Club also makes its historic venue available for weddings, graduations, social and corporate events, memorial services, filming, and photography. Rental income supports the organization’s community work and the upkeep of the clubhouse. Through its programs and stewardship, Wilfandel works to strengthen the community, preserve African American heritage, and encourage future generations of women leaders.
