Willie Weston is a profit-for-purpose brand founded by two non-Indigenous women from Melbourne. With a deep respect for Indigenous art and culture, Willie Weston collaborates with First Nations artists and art centers to develop stunning collections of fabrics and wallpapers for both commercial and residential interiors. Their mission is to showcase the diverse artistic talents of First Nations artists and promote their integration into the built environment.
Co-founders Jessica Booth and Laetitia Prunetti, who have extensive backgrounds in art curatorship and working with arts organizations, consult with interior designers and architects to pair exceptional projects with sophisticated designs by First Nations artists. The fabrics and wallpapers are meticulously printed on high-performance materials. Currently, Willie Weston works with thirteen exceptional artists, including Jean Baptiste Apuatimi (dec.
), Leanne Black, April Jones, and Elizabeth Kandabuma (dec. ), among others. These artists are the heart of the brand and are not only compensated for their work but also receive a share of the net profits at the end of each financial year.
By adopting this unique fee structure, Willie Weston aims to provide sustainable livelihoods for First Nations artists and contribute to the well-being of their communities
