The Windrush National Organisation (WNO) is a UK-wide assembly of independent advocates, advisers, solicitors, community activists and legislative reformers. It was formed to address barriers affecting the Windrush Generation and their descendants in the UK and abroad who may be entitled to UK status or compensation. WNO works to empower communities through communication and engagement, helping people navigate the Government’s Windrush Status and Windrush Compensation schemes and access the documents and support they need.
Its activities include public meetings and engagement sessions with the Home Office, sharing updates and information on status and compensation, and providing access to relevant documentation and recorded discussions. The organisation also brings together faith communities, government representatives and advocacy groups to strengthen trusted support and collaboration. WNO hosts conferences and community events, including its Windrush International Conference and fundraising gala, and invites people to join its mailing list or online meetings.
It also promotes the Windrush Welfare Fund, which supports individuals and families affected by the Windrush scandal
