Windsor-Essex Project Lifesaver is a non-profit organization that helps caregivers locate loved ones who may wander or bolt because of Alzheimer’s disease, autism, dementia, or other special needs. The organization combines personalized radio-frequency tracking bracelets with a trained public safety response to support faster searches and reduce risks from exposure, accidents, or other dangers.
Registered clients wear a lightweight, battery-operated wrist transmitter that sends a unique tracking signal every second, around the clock. Project Lifesaver equips and trains law enforcement agencies to use radio direction-finding equipment and respond when a person is missing. The organization describes this approach as a reliable way for trained public safety personnel to locate people, while also helping reduce the need for lengthy and costly search-and-rescue operations.
Windsor-Essex Project Lifesaver provides information about eligibility, client registration, caregiver requirements, program costs, equipment, and chapter development. Due to increased demand, bracelets are currently unavailable; interested families can join the waiting list and will be contacted when supplies arrive. The organization serves the Windsor-Essex community in Ontario.
