About Winnipeg Central Hockey League
The Winnipeg Central Hockey League (WCHL) is a dedicated adult recreational hockey league that has fostered a passion for the sport since its inception in 1978. Originally founded by local military reserve units, the league has evolved through various name changes and adaptations, officially becoming the WCHL in 1992. Catering to over 100 teams, it offers a non-contact, slap shot experience that balances fun with competitiveness.
The league's season runs annually from October to February, culminating in exciting playoffs during March. WCHL provides players with essential benefits, including basic insurance coverage through its affiliation with CARHA. Unique to WCHL is the opportunity for teams to book ice in their neighborhoods, ensuring accessibility and engagement within the community.
