Winter Wings Festival

Winter Wings Festival is a renowned brand that offers an immersive and captivating experience for birders and nature enthusiasts in Klamath Falls, Oregon. For over a decade, this festival has been a significant attraction, showcasing the diverse range of wintering raptors, waterfowl, and other bird species in the Klamath Basin. As the primary fundraiser for the Klamath Basin Audubon Society, Winter Wings Festival plays a crucial role in supporting local grants for outdoor education and community nature-related projects.

However, due to the decline in suitable habitat caused by a drought and a shortage of festival volunteers, the festival will be taking a temporary hiatus in 2024. During this hiatus, the festival organizers will utilize the time to restock their volunteer pool and gather suggestions from previous supporters and attendees for the next iteration of the festival, aiming for a successful comeback in 2025. In the meantime, birding enthusiasts can still enjoy the unique year-round birding experience in the Klamath Basin.

With a diverse species count of approximately 120-133, the area offers abundant opportunities to observe and appreciate nature's beauty. Winter Wings Festival is a labor of love by Klamath Basin Audubon Society volunteers, with support from sponsors, grants, and participant registration fees. Their dedication ensures that the festival continues to contribute to outdoor education and community nature-related initiatives.

If you're passionate about birds and nature, Winter Wings Festival welcomes volunteers to join their team and make a difference.
