Wiregrass Farms McCurdy

Alabama Wiregrass Farms is a collaborative horse-breeding venture run by Greg Aplin, Ed Meadows, and Tony Wells, bringing together three farms and the owners’ experience with quarter horses and gaited horses. The group has bred horses for 15 to 25 years and focuses on offering quality gaited horses suited to several needs, including pleasure and trail riding, performance, and field trial use. Its offerings include Double Registered Tennessee Walking Horse/McCurdy, McCurdy Plantation, and Spotted/Tennessee Walking Horse horses.

The breeders selected these breeds and combinations after meeting other horse owners and founders of the McCurdy Plantation horse, with the aim of developing versatile animals rather than specializing in just one riding purpose. Alabama Wiregrass Farms identifies conformation, a calm disposition, versatility, a smooth gait, and stamina as qualities it seeks in its horses. Visitors can explore horses from the three associated farms—Bent Oak Farms, Destiny Hills Ranch, and McCurdy Home—and find horses for sale or contact the farms through the website
