Wismarer Werkstätten GmbH is a nonprofit organisation in Wismar, Germany, supporting people with disabilities since 1991. Its services are designed to encourage individual development, self-determination and equal participation in community life, from early childhood through adulthood.
For children and families, the organisation provides interdisciplinary early support, an inclusive kindergarten, and the state-recognised Astrid-Lindgren full-day school. Its employment services include vocational training, rehabilitation and social support, work areas, and day groups. More than 450 people with disabilities carry out tasks such as assembly and grounds maintenance, supported by qualified staff and working according to individual abilities and needs.
The organisation also offers residential care, assisted living in people’s own homes, and a family support service with individual care and group leisure activities. Across its programmes, Wismarer Werkstätten aims to provide tailored guidance, learning and support. It also creates opportunities for staff and prospective employees, including internships, work-study training, university study and permanent positions.
