The Women and Memory Forum was established in 1995 by a group of researchers dedicated to challenging stereotypical representations of women in mainstream culture. Focused on a gender perspective, the organization aims to address the lack of alternative cultural knowledge about women's roles in history and contemporary life in the Arab world. Through specialized research, the Forum seeks to produce alternative cultural knowledge about Arab women, raising awareness and supporting women's rights.

With a board of trustees setting policies and overseeing activities, a team of staff implements these initiatives under the executive director's supervision. The Forum envisions a society where gender equality and justice prevail, reshaping power dynamics to uphold human dignity amidst all forms of discrimination. Through research, education, and capacity-building activities, the Forum strives to empower women, amplify their voices, and promote gender equality in the Arab world
