About WNBPA
The Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) is a pioneering union dedicated to advocating for current professional women athletes in the WNBA. Founded in 1998, it is the first labor union representing women in professional sports, focusing on protecting players' rights while helping them reach their full potential both on and off the court. The WNBPA's mission is to support collective interests by engaging in negotiations, public service, and educational programs that drive equality and inspire change in sports and society.
It provides invaluable resources, including legal representation, counseling on benefits and post-career opportunities, and leadership roles within the union. The organization champions diversity and social justice, empowering players of all backgrounds to advocate for their rights and voices. Through continuous efforts in collective bargaining, community outreach, and societal advocacy, the WNBPA is committed to fostering lasting improvements for its members and shaping a brighter future for women's basketball
