About WNCAM
The Western North Carolina Air Museum is a nonprofit organization in Hendersonville, North Carolina, dedicated to preserving and promoting the region’s flying heritage and general aviation. Located beside Johnson Field, the museum offers visitors the chance to walk among 25 aircraft and explore historic exhibits celebrating aviation in Western North Carolina. Its displays include a sport flyer exhibit where children can sit in the cockpit and imagine piloting an aircraft.
The museum also maintains historical archives and a restoration hangar, helping connect visitors with the stories and preservation of aviation. Beyond its exhibits, the museum is part of an active flying community at its own airfield and welcomes people interested in aviation to get involved, with no requirements beyond an interest in the subject. Visitors can attend museum events, including its annual air fair, and support the organization through donations, membership, and gift shop purchases.
Located a few miles from downtown Hendersonville, the museum provides an accessible destination for families, aviation enthusiasts, and anyone curious about flight. Admission is free
