Wolfgang Scherzer

Wolfgang Scherzer is a classical dressage trainer and clinician based at Vogelsang Farm, a 65-acre facility in Birmingham, Alabama. He trains horses and riders, including local students and those who travel from out of state, and leads clinics around the United States. His teaching emphasizes engaging instruction and correct riding, with a focus on helping students develop their skills and compete in dressage.

Scherzer’s students have earned USDF medals and achieved results at regional and national competitions, including championships and placements across multiple levels. His coaching experience also includes supporting junior and young riders at the North American Junior/Young Rider Championships, where students’ teams earned silver and bronze medals.

In addition to in-person training, Scherzer offers remote video lessons. Riders can submit a recording, optionally with their own audio, for his review and voice-over feedback. The edited video gives students an opportunity to revisit guidance and reflect on their riding. Riders can also contact him to arrange a clinic or find a regularly scheduled clinic in their area.
