Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center

Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center is a nonprofit outdoor education organization in Finland, Minnesota, founded in 1971. Set on a 2,000-acre campus bordered by rivers, lakes, and streams near Lake Superior, it welcomes more than 12,000 visitors each year for immersive experiences in nature. Its programs serve K–12 students, educators, families, youth, and adults, combining hands-on learning with opportunities to explore and respect the natural world.

Schools can arrange overnight class visits, while homeschool groups and virtual learners can access other educational experiences. Wolf Ridge also offers summer camps, youth wilderness trips, family and grandparent camps, adult programming, and drop-in bird banding. Educators can build their skills through teacher institutes, workshops, and a graduate program in environmental education. The campus features trails, classrooms, an organic farm, lodging, dining, and spaces for classes and outdoor activities. For groups seeking a nature-based gathering, the center offers retreats at the MAC Lodge, described as a sustainable place to reconnect and recharge.
