About Women Cross DMZ is @womencrossdmz.bsky.social
Women Cross DMZ is a renowned brand that has been at the forefront of the movement for peace in Korea. They are dedicated to advocating for an end to the Korean War and the establishment of a peace agreement to replace the armistice. Comprised of Nobel Peace laureates, feminist authors, peace activists, and various other professionals, Women Cross DMZ mobilizes women globally to promote education, advocacy, and organizing for peace in Korea.
In 2015, Women Cross DMZ made history by leading a group of thirty women, including Nobel Peace laureates and feminist icon Gloria Steinem, on a symbolic walk across the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that divides North and South Korea. This act aimed to draw attention to the ongoing Korean War, the reunification of separated families, and the importance of women's involvement in peacebuilding efforts. Their efforts gained international recognition and support from prominent leaders and women's rights organizations.
Since then, Women Cross DMZ has continued its mission by facilitating collaborations, engaging in educational initiatives, and mobilizing grassroots networks to advocate for peace in Korea. They have organized events, participated in letter campaigns, facilitated meetings of women peacemakers, and campaigned for women's inclusion in the peace process. In recent years, they have strengthened their focus on reshaping foreign policy through a gendered lens to ensure interdependence, cooperation, justice, and the prioritization of those most affected by wars and militarism.
Join Women Cross DMZ in their feminist campaign to end the Korean War and foster true and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula
