About Women Income Network
WIN | Luwero is a community-based organization founded in August 2020 with the goal of empowering underprivileged women through maggot farming. Located in Kalagala, Luwero district in Uganda, WIN provides training programs on maggot farming and distributes parent stock of maggots to rural women's groups working in stone quarries. By establishing maggot cultivation shelters, WIN supports these women in generating income through maggot farming.
Through partnerships with organizations like the Resolution Project and the MasterCard Foundation Jim Leech Fellowship, WIN has been able to establish a maggot training center and provide free training to 120 women. This training equips the women with the knowledge and skills to establish their own maggot cultivation shelters. WIN's concept of maggot farming not only drives economic empowerment for rural women but also addresses food insecurity and climate change.
By bio-converting organic waste into maggot feed, agricultural manure, and evaporated water, WIN contributes to a circular economy. Support WIN's mission of economic independence for unprivileged women by donating or staying up to date with their work. Contact them at +256709486667 or info@womenincomenetwork.
