Women's Justice Initiative (WJI) is a Guatemala-based organization that is dedicated to fighting gender inequality and ending violence against indigenous girls and women in rural communities. Their mission is to improve the lives of indigenous Guatemalan women and girls through education, access to legal services, and gender-based violence prevention. WJI envisions a Guatemala where women and girls are active leaders in their communities, have access to culturally respectful legal services, know their legal rights and can assert them safely, and are free from gender-based violence.

WJI takes a community-based approach, working closely with key community leaders and stakeholders to develop responses to inequality and violence that are specific to each community. By increasing women and girls' access to justice and empowering them to live free from violence, WJI is building a more equitable world for Maya women and girls. With a team of dedicated professionals, including lawyers, social workers, and program directors, WJI provides legal counseling, implements education programs, and advocates for women's rights.
