The Wood Database is a comprehensive online reference for wood enthusiasts and craftsmen alike. Created by Eric Meier, an avid woodworker, the project originated from his desire to organize all the helpful data he gathered from various sources into a single reference file. What started as a personal project soon grew into a vast collection of wood species, complete with detailed information such as common and scientific names, weight, cost, and unique observations for each wood.

The database incorporates not only Eric's own experiences but also data from reputable sources like the Wood Handbook produced by the USDA's Forest Products Laboratory. With a clean and user-friendly interface, the website offers high-resolution scans of woods, informative links, and the option for readers to contribute by adding pictures and comments. The Wood Database also acknowledges and showcases the generous contributions of wood samples and photos from woodworking enthusiasts worldwide.

Whether you're a professional woodworker or simply interested in learning more about different wood species, The Wood Database is an invaluable resource that brings you the most accurate and comprehensive information about wood available
