Timber & Timberland serve as the foundation of the wood industry, providing commercially viable wood from forested areas. With approximately 750 million acres of forest land in the United States, timberland accounts for two-thirds of this land, ensuring a continuous supply of wood for industries. In the U.

S., lumber, also known as timber, is the result of trees being turned into planks or beams. Both hardwoods and softwoods are used in the lumber market, with remanufactured lumber and wood-plastic composite materials also available. The management of forests is vital, with public lands overseen by the U.

S. Forest Service, offering timber and forest products through contracts and permits. Private owners also play a significant role, with over 90% of the nation's forest products coming from privately owned forests.

Logging and harvesting timber require skilled operators and machinery for efficient processing. Sawmills play a crucial role in turning trees into usable products, with cutting and drying processes ensuring the quality and durability of the wood. From the sawmills, the wood products are transformed into various items, including millwork.
