About WORD
WORD, or World Off-road Riding Department, is a radical youth mountain bike charity based in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Our mission is to save the world, one ride at a time! We offer after-school programs and holiday camps for children aged 7-17 in the Wellington Region, Wānaka, and Ōtautahi (starting in 2023). With over 400 kids in our term programs, 300 kids riding during holidays, and a dedicated team of instructors and assistant instructors, we are spreading the love of riding across New Zealand.
We prioritize youth-centered experiences, adventure, and connection—to oneself, to others, and to the environment. We fight for equity, striving to create access, support, and celebrate diversity. Safety is our top priority, which is why we are proud to be an accredited Adventure Activity Operator.
