About Wordsworth
Wordsworth Grasmere, operated by the Wordsworth Trust, is a Lake District visitor attraction dedicated to the lives, writing and legacy of William and Dorothy Wordsworth. Its centrepiece is Dove Cottage in Grasmere, where William lived with his family from 1799 and wrote many of his best-known poems, while Dorothy recorded life in her Grasmere journal. Visitors can explore the historic cottage, its garden and orchard, and the neighbouring Wordsworth Museum, which shares the story of the Wordsworths and their time in the area.
The site offers tickets and visit-planning information, including accessibility guidance, family activities, group visits, and programmes for schools and universities. Its events and experiences include exhibitions, themed trails and walks, with activities for visitors of different ages. Guests can also enjoy the on-site café and browse the online shop, where purchases support the Trust’s work connecting people, communities and poetry. Through its collections, exhibitions, events and learning opportunities, Wordsworth Grasmere brings Romantic literature and the Wordsworths’ relationship with the Lake District to life.
