Work in Progress ETS (WiP) is an Italian Third Sector organization dedicated to promoting and delivering sustainable development projects in African communities. Founded in 2005 following an appeal from a village in southern Gambia, it now works in Gambia and Senegal. Its mission is to improve the well-being of people and communities by fostering self-sufficiency and resilience, with local populations involved in its initiatives.
WiP develops projects in health care, education, logistics and social assistance. Completed work includes a medical clinic, a connecting road made with shells, new classrooms and access to drinking water. Current initiatives include plans for organic farming and collaboration with ASL RM 2 to promote projects eligible for co-funding. In Italy, the organization provides information and training and promotes support for its African programs, working with public bodies, associations and individuals. Supporters can contribute through annual membership, Italy’s five-per-thousand tax designation, child or therapeutic distance sponsorship, monthly voluntary donations for hospital needs, or solidarity face masks.
