About Work and Well-Being Initiative
The Work and Well-Being Initiative is a joint Harvard and MIT research-for-action initiative focused on improving worker health and well-being through better workplace design. It helps employers understand how workplace conditions can affect employee well-being, engagement, retention, and productivity, and emphasizes that supporting workers is important to organizational success.
A central offering is its Work Design for Health employer toolkit, which provides guidance to help organizations plan and implement approaches that support healthier work. The toolkit organizes its recommendations around three principles: giving employees more control over their work, reducing excessive work demands, and improving social relationships in the workplace. The initiative also provides information about its people, partners and sponsors, research and other work, news, and additional resources. By bringing research into practical employer guidance, the Work and Well-Being Initiative equips organizations with tools to consider how work can be structured to better support employees and their well-being.
