The International Massage Association (IMA) promotes massage techniques and supports professional development among massage therapists worldwide. Its flagship event, the World Championship in Massage, brings practitioners together to compete, exchange ideas, build professional connections and strengthen their skills. The 2027 championship is scheduled for July 2–4 in Copenhagen and will offer both in-person and live online participation. Participants receive a diploma, and the competition also includes a Nations format.
Alongside the championship, IMA provides professional education through the IMA Academy, offering courses and masterclasses in areas such as deep tissue, freestyle, therapeutic, sports and Swedish massage. Its wider learning and industry resources include judge training, massage teacher education, approved championships and teachers, a library, free lessons and quizzes, podcasts, videos and a massage museum. The association also supports national associations and shares information on hosting a championship and obtaining an IMA license.
IMA organizes massage video competitions, with categories for promotional videos, teasers and short-form videos.
