About Hunger Notes
World Hunger Education Service (WHES) is an independent, volunteer nonprofit organization committed to reducing hunger and malnutrition worldwide. Since 1976, it has pursued its mission to “fight hunger with knowledge,” using education to deepen understanding of the causes, impacts, and possible solutions to global and domestic hunger. Its publication, Hunger Notes, shares news, analysis, opinions, and reviews on food insecurity, poverty, agriculture, nutrition, and anti-hunger efforts.
Coverage spans regions including the United States, Africa, Asia, and the wider world, helping readers follow developments and explore issues in context. WHES also provides educational resources, including information about hunger in America, fact sheets, discussion guides, and quizzes; taking a quiz prompts a small donation to anti-hunger organizations. The organization encourages people to take action by supporting public policies that help people in poverty, contributing financially to efforts addressing hunger and poverty, or working directly with affected communities.
Through accessible information and practical learning tools, WHES aims to help people understand hunger and identify ways to contribute to its reduction
