About World IPv6 Launch
World IPv6 Launch is a global initiative organized by the Internet Society to permanently enable IPv6 for products and services. It brings together major internet service providers, home networking equipment manufacturers, and web companies to redefine the global internet. Since its launch on 6 June 2012, World IPv6 Launch has witnessed a significant growth in IPv6 traffic, with some networks reporting a deployment rate of 80 or 90%.
IPv6, as the successor to IPv4, is critical to the internet's continued growth as a platform for innovation and economic development. Participating companies include Akamai, AT&T, Cisco, Comcast, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and many more. World IPv6 Launch invites everyone, including web companies, ISPs, and citizens of the modern internet, to spread the word and support the initiative.
