World Migratory Bird Day

World Migratory Bird Day is a global awareness and conservation campaign that brings people, organizations, and communities together to support migratory birds. Coordinated through international collaboration by the Convention on Migratory Species, the African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement, the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership, and Environment for the Americas, the campaign connects efforts across the world’s major flyways.

Each year, World Migratory Bird Day offers educational themes and resources that encourage public participation in bird conservation. Its activities include bird walks, festivals, community science, habitat restoration, and policy engagement. The campaign also provides practical materials, including a campaign toolkit and social media assets, and invites participants to register events and explore a global event map.

The 2026 theme, “Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter!”, highlights how bird counts and other community science efforts contribute data for research, conservation planning, and policy. By encouraging consistent observations and public events, World Migratory Bird Day helps people learn about migration, connect with nature, and take part in shared conservation action.
