Way Out West Cutting Series is a regional competition circuit established in 2019 to showcase skilled horse-and-rider teams in cutting, a sport that tests a horse’s ability to separate cattle from a herd. The series brings premier competitors to western U.S. states and Canadian events, working with local cutting show producers to deliver high-level competition and engaging viewing for fans.
Competitors can enter Open, Non-Pro, Unlimited Amateur and $75,000 Amateur divisions, with purses offered across the classes. Prize amounts vary by event, and some legs feature substantial added money. Earnings accumulate throughout the circuit to determine each division’s champion and reserve champion. Series champions are crowned at the Cascades Futurity and Aged Event in Redmond, Oregon.
The series publishes schedules, rules, results and standings, and viewers can watch events live through CHC Live Scoring. Its calendar includes competitions hosted at equestrian centers and other event venues across the western states, with participating shows promoted through their own organizers.
