Wozep

The Wind op Zee Ecologisch Programma (Wozep) is an essential initiative advocating for sustainable energy generation through offshore wind farms while prioritizing ecological integrity. Established to assess the environmental impacts of these wind parks, Wozep consolidates data previously fragmented across individual wind farm operators, now centrally managed by Rijkswaterstaat under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.

This comprehensive program has produced significant insights regarding the effects of offshore wind energy on local wildlife, including birds, bats, and marine mammals. Wozep serves as a robust repository for data related to these environmental studies, offering accessible information through its dashboard on the Noordzeeloket platform.

The program also facilitates data management and sharing across various platforms, including SFTP servers for temporary dataset storage and GitLab for version control. By fostering a collaborative environment, Wozep plays a crucial role in advancing knowledge about the ecological implications of wind energy developments, ensuring that sustainability and biodiversity remain at the forefront of renewable energy initiatives.
