About WPRA
The Women's Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) is the oldest women's sports organization in the country, founded in 1948 by a group of Texas ranch women. Originally known as the Girls Rodeo Association (GRA), the association was created to provide women with a platform to compete in the male-dominated world of rodeo. Today, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the WPRA offers a range of products and services to over 3,000 members across the United States and Canada.
They provide opportunities for women to compete in timed events such as barrel racing, team roping, breakaway roping, and tie-down roping. With over 1,500 events and payouts totaling over $5 million, the WPRA is a leading organization in the rodeo world. In addition to their competitive events, the WPRA also offers a comprehensive membership program, publishes a news magazine, manages the PESI Stallion Directory, and collaborates with corporate partners and sponsors.
With a strong focus on promoting women in rodeo, the WPRA is dedicated to empowering women athletes and showcasing their talents on a national stage
