WRAPD

West Rand Association for Persons with Disabilities (WRAPD) is a community organisation serving people with disabilities and their families across the West Rand. Its objective is to promote their treatment, education, training, employment and general welfare, with a focus on recognising each person beyond their disability. Based in Krugersdorp, the association operates residential, social work, protective employment and childcare services.

The Roy Martin Residential Facility provides holistic support for 30 multi-disabled adults, including daily care and attention to their physical, medical and psychological needs. WRAPD’s social work team assists hundreds of families with individual and group support, social security grant applications, clinic and hospital transport, and access to assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walkers. At the Sophia Oosthuizen Protective Work Centre, adults who cannot enter the labour market take part in contract assembly and packaging, crafts, sports, training and social activities. Rainbow Day Care Facility cares for 30 children aged three to 16, offering daily meals, educational and perceptual activities, therapeutic exercises, medication and transport.
