WRC 2020

The World Rogaining Championships 2020 is an international orienteering and navigation event scheduled for August 1–2 in California’s Sierra Nevada. Its website presents the championship and related outdoor activities, inviting competitors and families to enjoy two weeks of orienteering and rogaining in the region. The competition is planned across an approximately 200-square-kilometre mountain area, with elevations ranging from about 1,900 to 2,665 metres.

Participants navigate using a detailed, purpose-made map depicting terrain, vegetation, roads, trails, streams, and buildings. SportIdent electronic punching is specified for checkpoint recording, with timing and results managed by Western Race Services. Organizers include Orienteering USA and the Bay Area Orienteering Club, with support from several other orienteering groups and service providers.
