About When Saturday Comes
When Saturday Comes (WSC) is Britain's premier independent football magazine that has been at the forefront since its launch in 1986. The publication strives to be the voice of discerning football enthusiasts, providing an astute and entertaining perspective on the sport. WSC prides itself on including contributions from its dedicated readership, as well as esteemed football journalists and award-winning authors.
Each issue covers a wide range of hot topics that fans are eager to discuss. Initially a bi-monthly, photocopied, hand-stapled production, WSC quickly evolved into a monthly magazine with nationwide distribution. During this time, it also played an instrumental role in promoting numerous fanzines that emerged across the country.
As the magazine gained popularity, our public profile soared, highlighted by our involvement in several prestigious football events worldwide. WSC has garnered recognition as a reliable source of informed commentary on every aspect of British football, regularly featuring in esteemed current affairs programming, newspapers, and radio and television broadcasts throughout Europe. Our vast collection of books, including the first English-language histories of football in Spain and Germany, have captivated readers.
Additionally, we have produced a range of sought-after T-shirts. In the digital realm, WSC continues to expand its online presence, offering a comprehensive and searchable digital archive to subscribers. Our website features a selection of engaging articles from each issue, granting readers a taste of the complete WSC magazine experience.
We actively engage with our audience across various social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Furthermore, we curate a weekly newsletter, brimming with both despair and enlightenment, delivered straight to subscribers' inboxes every Friday. WSC takes great pride in showcasing the diverse facets of football culture through an extensive and visually stunning archive of independent photography.
Our dedicated team of photographers has immortalized the essence of the sport, and many of their captivating images are available for purchase as prints. To further enhance the WSC experience, we recently launched the WSC Podcast, featuring lively discussions with magazine editor Andy Lyons, columnist Harry Pearson, and host Daniel Gray on the latest football news. We have also introduced the WSC Supporters' Club on Patreon, offering exclusive bonus podcast episodes and merchandise, enabling us to continue producing the magazine.
WSC has now embarked on exciting live events, taking the magazine and podcast to non-league clubhouses across the country. With over three decades of providing outstanding independent football writing, WSC remains committed to delivering excellence in the field. But don't just take our word for it – some notable sources have heaped praise on WSC over the years.
Join us on this remarkable journey as we continue to be the eyes and ears of football, and the voice of the fans. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to stay updated, and sign up for our weekly newsletter for a dose of football-related insights. Copyright © 1986 - 2023 When Saturday Comes LTD.
