About Wupperverband
Wupperverband is a renowned brand that serves as the water management association for the Wupper River in Wuppertal, Germany. Established in 1930, their primary goal is to fulfill the water management tasks across the extensive 813 km² Wupper River basin, transcending municipal boundaries. As a public-law corporation, their focus lies in protecting and sustainably managing the vital water resource rather than pursuing profit.
With 14 reservoirs, 11 wastewater treatment plants, a sludge incineration plant, and other facilities such as flood retention basins, they ensure comprehensive water management. The Wupperverband also maintains approximately 2,000 kilometers of rivers and streams. Their members include cities, municipalities, districts, water supply companies, and industrial and commercial enterprises within the Wupper River region.
With a commitment to water conservation and responsible management, Wupperverband plays a crucial role in the region's water ecosystem
