The Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP) is a collaborative initiative that aims to gather weather data from citizen contributors for public use, weather services, and homeland security. At wxqa. com, our goal is to ensure weather quality assurance through the collection of data from over 7000 North American stations, sending out 50,000 to 75,000 observations hourly.

With a global reach, the number of citizen weather stations sending data to CWOP continues to grow. Members utilize internet or internet-wireless methods to transmit their data to the findU server, which then transfers it to the NOAA MADIS server every five minutes. Following quality checks, this data is distributed to various organizations, including NWS Weather Forecast Offices, NASA, and universities.
