X-Eye

X-Eye AG is a Swiss company that provides an aerial mapping solution for applications ranging from infrastructure inspection to environmental monitoring. Its platform is a modified, EASA-certified Pipistrel Explorer light aircraft, designed to carry mapping sensors in a protective belly pod. A modular rack supports up to 40 kg of equipment and helps reduce vibration and shocks, while the aircraft includes a GNSS antenna mount, power supply and cockpit equipment for mapping missions. The platform’s low fuel consumption helps reduce operating costs, and its ballistic rescue system and glide performance support safe aerial work.

X-Eye’s solutions can be used for powerline inspection, 3D city modelling, precision agriculture and environmental mapping. Sensor options include aerial LiDAR, RGB, multispectral and thermal equipment, suited to tasks such as measuring wire sag, assessing crop health, monitoring glaciers and supporting forestry or flood management. The mapping workflow covers mission planning, flight and data capture, data import and processing. Outputs can include orthomosaics, multispectral index maps, point clouds and 3D meshes, using suitable processing software.
