Xenops Environmental

Xenops Environmental is the ecological consulting practice of Caleb Gordon, Ph.D., based in Tucson, Arizona. The practice helps developers, lenders, and governments understand and manage biodiversity challenges associated with renewable energy projects and the infrastructure that supports them. Its services include expert technical advice on biodiversity, wildlife studies, and guidance to help projects meet international lenders’ requirements for conserving biodiversity and ecosystem services. Xenops Environmental works with development finance institutions and project developers seeking their support, bringing scientific expertise to energy-sector planning and assessment.

Caleb Gordon is broadly trained in bird biology, with specializations in migratory bird ecology and tropical ecology. Since entering consulting in 2008, he has focused on interactions between wildlife, biodiversity, and energy infrastructure, serving clients in the private sector, government, and finance. Much of the practice’s work takes place in emerging-market countries. Gordon is fluent in Spanish and has supported more than 35 wind energy projects across 13 Latin American countries, including many among the first in their markets.
