**Brand Description: XF-ACTORS**
XF-ACTORS is a pioneering research initiative dedicated to combating the aggressive bacterium Xylella fastidiosa, recognized as a significant threat to European agriculture. Established through an unprecedented collaboration of 29 international partners and funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program, this project aims to develop innovative strategies for disease management and containment.
Through its multidisciplinary research approach, XF-ACTORS investigates the biology, genetics, and ecology of Xylella fastidiosa and its vectors, such as the meadow spittlebug, Philaenus spumarius. Key activities include screening olive cultivars for resistance and providing vital resources like open research data, publications, and multimedia materials to facilitate knowledge sharing among stakeholders.
XF-ACTORS also organizes events like the European Conference on Xylella fastidiosa, fostering collaboration and dissemination of findings to ensure that threatened plant species and historical crops are protected against this destructive pathogen. By bridging science with agriculture, XF-ACTORS sets the foundation for sustainable plant health management across Europe.
