KänguRuh e.V. Rostock

KänguRuh e.V. is a Rostock-based support association for families of premature and at-risk newborns. The organisation accompanies families from the first day after a child’s birth, recognising that parents may face many questions, worries and fears. Its approach focuses on practical support rather than sympathy alone. Working with doctors, therapists, early-intervention services, public agencies and other associations, KänguRuh helps parents find answers and, where appropriate, connect with further sources of assistance.

The association also creates opportunities for families to relax, share experiences and enjoy time together. Its activities include weekly children’s swimming at the Paul Friedrich Scheel School swimming pool, regular parents’ gatherings in an informal setting, and weekend trips that offer respite from caregiving while giving children time to play together. Each summer, KänguRuh participates in a celebration organised with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Klinikum Südstadt Rostock. Members and supporters are also invited to a convivial New Year’s reception. The association welcomes membership and donations to support its work with families.
