The National Pony Express Association (NPEA) is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to the preservation and promotion of the historic Pony Express National Historic Trail. Established in 1977 by a group of passionate horse and trail enthusiasts in California, NPEA has grown into a vital force in maintaining the legacy of the Pony Express, primarily focusing on identifying, re-establishing, and marking the original trail that stretched from St. Joseph, Missouri, to Sacramento, California.
Each June, the association hosts an Annual Re-Ride, where riders carry mail along the historic route, alternating directions based on odd and even years. The NPEA also organizes various events, educational resources, and conventions that foster community involvement and celebrate Pony Express history. With its headquarters in Pollock Pines, California, the NPEA not only honors the spirit of this iconic postal service from 1860-1861 but also cultivates a strong sense of heritage and adventure for future generations
